sale Feb 2007 : Start $10,000
Acrylic
painting on masonite panel of a life-size peregrine (shaheen)
falcon and Saker falcon in a desert setting was done in 1982 for
the falcon art show that toured several countries in the Middle
East.
I
developed a technique of including 24 karat gold leaf in the
border and perch and leash details.
This border, “the table”, in Arabic is a page from the holy
Koran that addresses the hunting heritage of the Bedouin and
advises, They ask what is made lawful for them, say, “to
train the birds and the beasts to hunt as Allah has taught you,
and say the name of Allah over what they catch, and fear Allah
for Allah is swift to reckon”.
This piece is framed in a beautiful golden wood frame.
My similar painting of a white gyrfalcon hangs in the Sulman
Falcon Centre in Manama, Bahrain.
